1. Who can take UTME?
Any secondary school student in SS3 or anyone with 5 SSCE credits, including English and Mathematics, is eligible to sit the UTME. 3. What subjects are written in UTME?
In the UTME, four (4) subjects are written. A candidate takes four subjects that are related to their planned course of study for any proposed course. A science student who wants to study law is an example. That student must enroll in English, Literature, Government, and Religion (CRS/IRS).

A commercial student aspiring to study Accounting will choose English, Maths, Economics, and Accounting. Your course determines your must-registered subject combination for the UTME.

4. Is English compulsory in UTME?
English is a required subject in the UTME. Whether you are a science, commercial, or arts student, you must write it in the UTME because English is used in all subjects.

5. What is UTME Cut-off Mark?
A cut-off mark is the score range that JAMB recommends tertiary institutions employ as a pass mark for potential admission applicants in UTME before being qualified to write post-UTME or conduct screening activities. This range differs amongst universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and creative entrepreneurial institutes. Every year, cut-off marks are established prior to the administration of the UTME.

6. What is the pass mark for UTME?
The UTME pass mark is 180. However, JAMB has the right to amend it based on the total UTME performance for the year.


7. How many questions are set in UTME?
JAMB assigns a total of 180 questions. The Use of English section has 60 questions, while the other three subjects each have 40 questions.
